NEWSLETTER: November 2007
NEWS Club Championships By the time you read this newsletter the club champs will probably have finished. We hope you had a successful competition. Don’t forget that as well as racing for medals, the times you achieved will be used for team selection and you may also be able to apply to compete in the Wiltshire County Championships (see forthcoming events below). All Club Champs results and any new records can be seen on the website. NB 200 Breaststroke to be swum on Friday 7th December instead of our 6-7pm training session at Trowbridge. Anyone not swimming the Breaststroke and wishing to train can go to Bath Uni 6-8pm. Successful AGM & “Stars in Their Eyes” Karaoke (2nd November) Combining the AGM with Stars in Their Eyes proved to be a lot of fun. The key outcomes from the AGM were that several changes to the committee occurred, including that Michele Greenan becomes the Chairperson; taking over from Mike Greenan. A case of keeping it in the family! Also, the new team captains were elected and we have provided a short profile for each of them below. Full AGM minutes and the new committee are now on the website. In the singing there were many brave volunteers young and old and it was often difficult to tell if the real pop stars were making a guest appearance (…yeah right!). Prizes were given for best fancy dress to Kieran Hill and David Williams (aka Blues Brothers), Rachel Williams (aka Gwen Stefani), Kev Fricker (aka ShawaddyWaddy) and Jacqui Williams (aka Suzi and the Banshees). Special thanks to Amy Griggs and family, and to the Davies family for providing the Karaoke equipment (and singers!). Please Support Your Club There were a few new volunteers that came forward at the AGM and their help is much appreciated. We still need more parents to take a more active role if they can. We are especially interested if you are a parent of a child in the 9-12 age group. For further details of how you can help, contact Michele Greenan: Chairperson, mg007e4588@blueyonder.co.uk, 01225 760354; or Sarah Hill: Secretary & Education, sarahjanehill@supanet.com, 01380 870984. Leer: 16th-20th October 2008 Next year it will be our turn to host the German swimmers and their families. If you would like to volunteer to host 1 or more German guests in you house over this weekend, please email Stewart Cuthbert: stewartcuthbert@yahoo.co.uk |
FORTHCOMING EVENTS Wiltshire County Championships The ‘Counties’ take place between January and March, depending on your age group. The evening will include: Club Champs trophy presentations, singing from Amy Griggs, special presentations to long-standing club helpers, the grand Christmas raffle and dancing. All swimmers at Bath Uni.(both squads) have permission that day to leave the pool at 7.30pm to slip into their disco gear. Club Holiday; Bideford Bay Holiday Park, Bideford, 4th-6th April 2008 We’ve been going away as a club for the past 3 years. All families stay in their own caravan on the campsite and we get to play lots of sports (other than swimming). This is a relaxing and fun weekend for kids and adults, so please come along. Please see website for details of how to book or contact Liz Smith. |
