LEER EXCHANGE

But there is one special and major social event which occurs each year. This is the exchange visit which takes place between Trowbridge Swimming Club and the swimming club of Trowbridge’s twin town in Germany, Leer.

Exchanges between the two clubs commenced in 1989 when Leer Swimming Club visited Trowbridge for the first time - since then these exchanges have grown from strength to strength with local dignitaries in the two locations taking a keen interest in them. Each year therefore either Trowbridge visit Leer or Leer visit Trowbridge and over the years many firm friendships have developed.

These visits take the form of a rather hectic weekend. Accommodation is provided by the families of the Club whose turn it is to host, and involves many social events and, as would be expected incorporates a swimming gala.
