British Junior Breaststroke Record for Local Swimmer

Recently a host of Britain’s Commonwealth medallists were in action at the British Long Course Swimming Championships in Sheffield and competing alongside them was Trowbridge and Bath University swimmer Charlotte Barnes (15).

In the 15/16 year age group 100m Breaststroke Charlotte swam extremely well, finishing in impressive bronze medal position in a time of 1.12.35, narrowly missing silver by just 400th of a second. However, her greatest triumph was in the 200m Breaststroke where she came first with a time of 2.31.78, not only a personal best, but a new British Swimming Junior Record.

This competition formed the qualification event for the European Junior Championships in Mallorca in July, one of the most important meets of the year for up and coming talent within the European ranks and Charlotte will now travel to Spain along with 31 other British swimmers to represent Great Britain.                                                        Homepage
