| Trowbridge Amateur Swimming Club Member takes British Record Aaron competing in his first National Championships swam out of his skin obtaining personal best times in all his events and breaking the Current British record for 50m Breaststroke in a time of 31.08. He also took 4 gold medals in the 100m freestyle, 100m backstroke,50m breaststroke and 200m Individual Medley and silver in the 50m backstroke. Following this event Aaron is hoping to be able to claim this record once his S14 disability swimming classification has been finalized from Mencap Sport. Aaron is then hoping that he will be picked to travel to Geneva to represent GB in the International Swimming Championships, planned for October 2010. It has recently been highlighted by the South West Regional ASA that swimming opportunities in the South West Region for disability swimmers hadn’t been where we would like it to be. TASC are proactively changing this and are striving to be able to provide equal opportunity for our current small group of swimmers with both learning and physical disabilities and be confident and encourage more opportunities for swimmers to join and succeed in this sport. Aaron trains with Trowbridge ASC under TASC Head Coach (previous Olympic swimmer) Sarah Paton, training 7 sessions a week. Aaron is an exemplary role model to both able bodied and swimmers with disability, showing that with team effort , peer support and hard work ‘dreams can be achieved’. WE wish Aaron every success in future and look forward to him hopefully representing his country at the 2012 paraolympic games. Well done Trowbridge ASC Well done to all those who took part in the "Baggies", Swindon in MarchIt was a great event, we had some great results and everyone who took part thoroughly enjoyed themselves.
A big thankyou to all those involvedCongratulations Dave! David Sutton, lifeguard and time recorder for our club, completed the Bath Half Marathon in aid of Cancer Research on the 7th March. Please follow the link below for more details and it's not too late to donate.
I ran the Bath Half in 2 hrs 1 min 27 secs, which I was very pleased with.
For the last 3 weeks I have been nursing a calf injury which I had hoped would hold up for the race ..... but it didn't, and I had to suffer from 30 minutes onwards !! However, the will to finish, the terrific atmosphere and support of the crowd carried me through.
Sponsorship has reached just over £700 so far, so very many thanks again to everyone who has sponsored me, and it is still not too late to do so ! uk.virginmoneygiving.com/DavidSutton
Cheers
Dave
