TASC AGM 2006

Trowbridge Amateur Swimming Club members surpassed all expectations during September, with 32 new club records being set over three nights of exciting Club Championship Competition.

Swimmers of all ages had the chance to take part in 25m, 50m and 200m races in all 5 disciplines and for many their training and dedication over the last year paid off.

In the youngest age group, Kieran Slater (9) broke the 1988 record in the 25m breaststroke whilst Hannah Grubb (10) broke records in the 100m IM, 25m backstroke and 25m butterfly,  all which have stood since 1996. Molly Borthwick (10) also set a new Club record for the 25m breaststroke.

Christopher Weston (12) had an amazing three days and broke eight Club records including 50m breaststroke, 200m breaststroke, and 50m freestyle all set in 1991, 200m butterfly, 200m and 100m IM,  50m backstroke and finally 50m butterfly set in 1989. In superb fashion he knocked 12 seconds off the 200m breaststroke and a staggering 14 seconds off the 200IM.

Carl Greenan (12) also knocked a staggering 11 seconds off his own Club record from last year to set a new record in the 200m backstroke.

Jack Borthwick (12) took the 200m freestyle, knocking 7 seconds off the existing record, whilst Samyal Ward (14) achieved a new record winning the 100m breaststroke.

Rachel Williams (11), swimming in the 12/under age group, took the 200m backstroke record. Charlotte Barnes (14), swimming in the 13+ age group, knocked an amazing 13 seconds off the 200m Breaststroke record set in 1999 and also took the 100m and 200m IM records. Alice Baker (14) set new records in the 100m freestyle, 200m freestyle and 100m butterfly.

In the older age groups, Ed Jefferys (15) broke four records in the 200m backstroke, 100m breaststroke, 100m IM  and 100m backstroke whilst Mark Threlfall (17) took 9 seconds off  the 200m breaststroke record. Thomas Brennan-Craddock (19)  achieved gold in the 100m breaststroke, knocking 7 seconds off the existing 2002 record.

Finally, setting the first ever records, Claire Hayes and Diane Weston achieved golds in the 19+ age group in the 100m breaststroke and 100m freestyle.

Well done to everyone who took part and good luck for 2006!
