Swimmers from Trowbridge Amateur Swimming Club excelled at the weekend at the Swindon Tigersharks Open. Competing against squads from Hamble, Worcester, Marlborough, Warminster, Chippenham, Salisbury and further afield, the Club came home with a huge array of medals and personal best times.
In the boys age groups, gold medals went to Kieran Slater (10), Kieran Hill (11), Chris Weston (12) , Carl Greenan (13), and Edward Jefferys (16). Carl Greenan achieved silver and gold in the backstroke, securing district times in both the 100m and 200m, with Kieran Hill achieving a district qualifying time in his 400m IM, knocking an amazing 17 seconds off his personal best in his last race of the day. Other team-mates including Joshua Garg, David Vick, Andrew Stevenson, Jordan Edwards, Sam Smith, Jack Griggs, Lee Seviour and Joshua Dobson all went on to secure silver and bronze medal positions or achieve personal best times in several disciplines.
In the girls age groups, Georgina Barnes (11) swept home in gold medal position in the 200m Breaststroke and achieved an amazing personal best time and silver medal in the 400m IM, again her last race of the day, securing a district qualifying time by over 14 seconds. Ulli Singleton, Katie Pugh, Alys Parry, Danielle Bennett, Rachel Hampshire, Katherine Green, Emma Davies and Kristina Gilbert-Pike also added to the Club’s tally of silver and bronze medals and personal best times. Team-mate Emma Hill (10) was the fourth member of the team to secure a district qualifying time in the 200m Breaststroke, taking silver medal position.
Head Coach Paul Leather said “For Trowbridge the weekend was hugely successful, proving that as a Club, we are able to compete to a high level against Clubs from all over the Country”.
