Minutes of previous AGM were agreed.

REPORTS: Chairman, Treasurer, Poolside

Chairman;  Firstly Mike started off by thanking everyone for their help over the last year. Without the help of all our volunteers, teachers and poolside staff, the Club would not be able to function and it is their time and effort that makes TASC so successful.  Special thanks to Alun Williams for all his fund raising efforts over the last year and it is this together with help from Chris Jefferys that has made it possible to purchase our own ATE. Also special thanks to Sarah Hill who has many jobs and again, without her help and support, the Club would not function as well as it does.

There will be a call for volunteers later but it was stressed that the Club is in need of fresh help in many different areas and more parents need to come forward to support their children and help the Club to continue to be successful.  Lots of parents come forward with some great ideas but not enough people to help implement these.  We urgently need more volunteers at every level, whether you are interested in teaching, life-guarding, administration or whatever, we need you to come forward.

Unfortunately Leer was not able to go ahead this year due to lack of swimmers. This is still a social twinning event that the Club and Leer are wanting to continue and Leer are happy to visit us again next year so we will soon be looking for host families to have swimmers/adults.  It is normally a great event so please offer to host a family/swimmer and join in with the social activities that happen over the weekend of their visit.

Treasurer:  Mike ran through the financial account for last year and to summarise, for 2007 there was -£7,000 profit; however this is due to the one off payment last year for new trophies for the Club Championships which amounted to £3,000 and the Club’s donation to the ATE amounting to £7,000 and means that the Club would actually have been £3,000 in profit. We are also still holding a healthy £11,000 in the bank account.

Membership fees and session fees balance with pool hire and therefore accounts are generally well balanced, with any surplus down to fund raising.

The ATE should be in place over the Christmas holidays so when we return in the new year the scoreboard will be in place advertising the ‘Home Of Trowbridge Swimming Club’.  Our next big challenge therefore, with the help of everyone, will be to run our own Open Competition, hopefully in February.

2006 Club Championships was a huge success and this year we have even more entries so lets hope for the same great standard of swimming this year.

In order to improve communication and make sure everyone feels involved, there is now a newsletter produced every 2 months. If you want to include anything in this then please contact Mike who will be responsible for producing this newsletter. As always, the website is kept up to date.

Poolside; Another fantastic year for the Club at individual, team, county, District and National Level.

The A Team finished 3rd in the Summer League, now making them the 3rd best team in the County. The B Team also did amazingly well, having only gone up a division last year, finished 2nd in the 3rd Division, winning the last two gala’s outright and beating Tigersharks B!  In the Junior Southern League our younger swimmers finished 7th in the District, which equates to being one of the top 35 Clubs in the County at the 12 and under age group.!

Individually, once again there were medals galore in the County and District Competitions, and several Trowbridge swimmers made it to the Nationals! In the District Relays we won a medal in virtually every age group.

Following the reports, there was a chance for those present to ask any questions. There were none.

Vote on proposed constitution changes;   Agreed by a majority vote.

Thank You’s:  Special goodbye’s will be made on the Presentation Night to Pete, Brian, Bridget and Stewart. However a presentation was made to Trish Walton for all her hard work as Trophy Steward and Mike Greenan for his time and efforts as Chairperson over the last two years.
